400 slow running jet cleaning.
« on: July 29, 2022, 12:57:41 PM »
I'm currently doing a rebuild of my spare carb set that I bought a while back from member here - Pops - they are in generally good condition..

The float pedastals on my current carbs are not in great condition so these will be my back up if needed.

I assume that the slow running jet that screws into the base old the carb inside the bowl should have a clean hole. Mine seem well blocked up & so far Ultrasonic cleaning has not unblocked them.

Is it okay to push a fine needle through or is there a better method that does not risk damaging the orifice ?

Ha haaa, orifice ;D

I used an array of dental picks and cocktail sticks Ted, as long as you don't danage anythng all will be fine. It's whatever you have about that fits and has enough purchase. Sometines the sonic cleaner will only get to shift certain items, they never come out 'super dooper' clean and still need a bit of 'nannying' no matter what you do.

I've always used a brass wire brush (suede brush ?) To clear fine jets as the wire is fine enough to not cause a problem (some have "cross hairs" inside the jet to enhance molecule mixing size, but stiff enough to clear solidified gunk.

Just get one bristle and bend it out sideways from the brush, gently push the jet onto that bristle while twisting it to clear the dried contents.

Taught to me by a friend's very erudite father when I was a teenager, which I'm now passing on to you grasshopper  ;D use this wisdom wisely  :)
