Slipping Clip-ons !

Hi All,

I have clip-ons on my 400/4 but they keep slipping forward/backward on the stanchions with a bit of force. Haven't rode the bike yet as I've only just come to the end of my build, however I think it'll be pretty dangerous banking into a corner...

Any tips on getting these to stay firmly in place? I daren't tighten them up anymore as ill start stripping threads.

They're using products like this https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Peatys-Max-Grip-Carbon-Assembly-Paste-75g_240931.htm in mtb to overcome slipping on clamped bars, seatpost etc in MTB land.

It is an abrasive though with very small particles to give traction in clamped joints, whether that's suitable here I couldn't immediately verify.

If the aluminium clamps are anodized? Internally, then that's a fairly slippery surface finish on some items. Left field thought you could try, use photo mount spray or something like puncture patch rubber solution to coat lightly the stanchion before sliding the bar mount over it.

Drill and tap the clamps for a small grub screw

Oddjob:
Remove the paint from the inner surface of the clamps so it's metal to metal not metal to paint.
