Does the 550 share fenders with 750?
« on: August 10, 2022, 02:11:09 PM »
Am I mistaken, or do these two models share fenders? Both back and front?

Front yes, back no

Thank you.

Can anyone recommend a good aftermarket rear fender? Doesn’t have to have factory look, can be bopped etc. I would just like it it fit with the existing threads in the CB550F2 frame, so I can just attach it. Does such a thing exists?

Apparently there are a few differences between the 750/500/550 rear mudguards, different cable holes etc but will interchange as long as you are not a purest. On my 550f2 i have a 750 with a 341 number and it fits fine
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration

Ah, so the bolt holes line up without any modifications? Could I persuade you to take a picture of the back so I can see the entire fender? Would also like to see how your grab bar and signals lights look like. I assume it’s a grab bar from a 500 you have installed, since you can fit signal lights from a 500 on there? It’s my understanding that there are some significant size differences in the mounting points between models.

Now you have clarified it yes and yes, US rear ones MAY have only 3 rear light holes for a different bracket and i found some generic ones on ebay, probably for 125 that can be made to fit, even bought one, cost less than£15 if i remember

Damn, that is cheap! Are you happy with it though? At that price, I might spring for one.

How different is the stainless steel look from the chrome in the front?

My pal bought one for his 550 and its not sized very well. It's meant for a GN 125 which has a smaller back wheel, if you want it to fit you have to spread it out and it looks weird. Save yer money.

I was thinking it might be a good candidate for bobbing it a little bit. I am aiming for something like this image. Depending on how much smaller the fender is, I don't know, maybe it could work. Totally open for other fender suggestions!

I've had my fender filled in so the holes are gone and chopping it down somewhat to get a similar look once chromed.

The picture of my 550 has the correct 550f2 grab rail, and yes it does fit the older smaller indicators only on uk models, hence the stems are hard to find. Usa and other markets use the later larger indicators like on the 550 k3.

Havent actually fitted it yet, has sharp edges and yes does look different but i rekon its ok as long as you are not after concourse. I think the us rear light mount should fit the 3 holes
