Bored,Raining, Another side to my abilities
« on: November 06, 2022, 01:13:23 PM »
The garage is cold, I can’t go any further at this time with the bike, Christmas comets so I scratch built the Station/Tufnell for her nibs Le max Christmas Collection.
My reward will be a sandwich and bag of crisps

Like that. Does the brickwork come in sheets so you cut it down to size?

Used to have a train set as a lad, loved just sitting there and watching them go around, very relaxing for some reason.
Kids in a the back seat cause accidents.

The brickwork is paper sheets cut to size and glued over plywood off cuts that I had in the garage after making a scratch build house for her nibs Pippa Doll collection of both dolls and accessories. We have inherited my late Mother in Laws LeMax collection of houses, diorama, figurines etc. which yours truly will be tasked with wiring up discretely so that lights can be switched on but all wiring and switches hidden from view. Keeps me occupied instead of aimlessly watching TV drinking tea or coffee.

A good friend of mine has his model railway in his loft - he builds everything from stations to fair grounds either from kits or scratch built all illuminated - its his winter pastime when its too wet for golf.

Cheers everyone, it will be on display in a diorama once we have all the rest of the LeMax from my late M I L.  Once it’s completed I’ll put another piccy up ( on the Misc/open site ) so that I don’t cop it in the neck from members on the 350/400 site.
I’m always fascinated by people who can make something from nothing, one of the best was an 86 year old chap who scratch built a 3foot long 4-6-2 Steam Locomotive and tender that was able to ferry a grown adult up and down a fifty yard line that he’d scratch built too.
So different from many of today’s youth who if they can’t buy it have no idea how to make it, way back when I was a kid I couldn’t afford it so making it was the only way. I’m sure there’s plenty of us here who were in the same boat.

Absolutely! Carts from old prams, sledges from scrap timber and some half round. Phones from tins and string. Stilts from old bed ends, those were the days.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be😏.

Saying that, I built a model railway when I was 14. I used to get 25p/HR working at Barclays Bank sports ground in the kitchen on a Saturday. On a Monday after school I'd be down the model shop spending my hard earned £1.50 on track. It took me two years to build the layout. I used to buy the Superquick cardboard models to make the stations & platforms.
That's a really nice job Cappodimonte, I think you've now got the bug!

Why not do some style Storyville buildings with pinkish figurines?  ;D They closed the place down because they built a railway going past it...and...and...they didn't seem to mix! :o
