How many coats of engine paint?
« on: November 19, 2022, 11:13:23 PM »
Recently painted my upper crankcase on the 500.
Done one coat with  some touching up where I missed.

Is this enough or is a full second coat better before it goes in the oven?

Honda CB400 four super sport (first money pit)

I went for a mist coat plus two full coats within 10mins of each other, then a 60min bake at 200degc, building the heat over about 10mins or so. Seemed to work just fine. Make sure you allow the paint to dry for 24 hours or so at room temp before you bake it.

same here.

I find engine paint tends to run badly if you are not careful, and a mist coat helps it stick. Haven't bakes mine yet....need to make an oven thing to do it.
