New Throttle Cables
« on: January 25, 2023, 04:27:45 PM »
Hi There
Does anyone have any photos of the set up for the Throttle cables at the carburetors
I have a snapped cable and the cables have popped out
My bike is a cb750f2  1978 with push pull cables
I have ordered both replacements

I can get pictures from manual if needed, but not near it now.

Front cable on handlebar is the pull cable and goes to the carbs on the side that needs pulling obviously (resting position, try the mechanism to see which part is needed to open throttle) to get that route established.

Usually the threads/lengths etc differ from push and pull cables to try and prevent wrong fitting on these bikes too.

Fit the pull and check it opens etc, then fit the other one.

Warning detail, Honda's specification for cable slack is about 15 degrees rotation at the twist grip, that's important as it prevents conflict in the two cables when you turn the steering fully left or right. If you go much less it can pull the nipple off the cable!

Thanks for your reply and if you do have a drawing that would be brilliant. Hopefully my new cables will arrive in the next few days

OK first one

The cable with adjustment graphic around it is the throttle pull cable to open carbs.

Ordinarily this is the only one fitted with two adjustment nut at carburettor end.

The return cable has usually no adjustment at carburettor end,  just fit and tighten. And just visible at top left of lower photo.
