90165-323-000 caliper bolts

Both my calliper bolts have lost whatever finish they had from the factory - they seem pretty pricey at £20.84 for a pair including postage.

Is there a safe alternative bolt I could use?

I assume they need to be made of the right grade of steel what size thread are they M10 -75 mm long  the originals look to be 73 mm ?

I bought a couple a few years ago, but was disappointed with the finish, so cleaned up the old ones and fitted new washers instead.

I replaced mine with stainless steel Ted, the originals are not stamped with any high tensile marks AFAIK.

However you need metric fine bolts and a 14mm head for best fit.

Thanks for that what I could do with if such a thing exists is a sort or template tool  that I can screw a bolt into so it will tell me the size & pitch.

It's 1.25 pith Ted, you can get them with a 14mm head from here. The heads polished and they look very nice, don't forget to get a washer for each bolt.

Can't remember the length but 80mm sounds familiar for some reason.

I did buy a thread pitch gauge during lock down - put it somewhere safe - it's missing in action in my garage. It was probably too cheap to be of any use as bolts never seemed to fit in the threads but on them.

Get used to correctly using the pitch gauge, use a 6mm bolt, they are 1.00 pitch, study how the teeth on the gauge sit inside the threads on the bolt, if it’s correct you’ll find it resists being pulled sideways as the teeth grab the threads. Try using the 0.90 and you’ll see it doesn’t fit into the threads but rather than above them and pulling sideways is easy as there is no grip.

I have been having intermittent focus issues with my eye sight ever since I developed Entropion after Covid last year - saw the Opthalmic Plasic Surgeon today who has said he can fix it  in 8-10 weeks  (right eyelid operation). It's agravated by it being my dominant eye.
