Carb bench sync
« on: March 14, 2023, 03:51:15 PM »
With the idle screw right out, and ready to set Not 2 as a bench mark, someone on here said an eighth was too much as a guide and to use a sixteenth. Is this correct? Or is it just more critical to just get them all the same.

It's more critical to get them all the same John and the slides fully closed when the idle screw is fully backed off. I use the little red pipe from the top of the WD40 can and it's always worked spot on for me. Not sure which carbs you're working on but none I've ever worked on have a master as a bench mark. Maybe that's on the PD's as I've never worked on them.

Thanks Julie! It’s the infamous PD carbs off the 550. I was going to use the vernier depth gauge which is a 16th”

You are correct Johnny, the dreaded PD carbs do indeed have a master carb which is the one you sync them all too.

Cheers Ken! Synced and ready for fitting. New pilots fitted replaced 42’s for 45’s not expecting them to make a lot of difference but a move in the right direction.
