CB350K0 Engine Finishes

(1/2) > >>

philward:
Having finished the rolling chassis on my 1969 350K0, I'm just about to strip the engine for rebuild and repaint. I'm more familiar with the engine finish on the Fours but less so the 350 twin.
Can anyone advise on which parts of the engine are painted and which parts are left aluminium?
And what paint best matched the original on parts that are painted. (is it the same as that used on the fours that I've used on my 500/750's?).
Thanks in advance!

Hi Phil, cam covers, oil filter cover, tappet covers and generator cover are satin polished and clear coated. Top crankcase is silver lacquered.... I Don't want to get into debate but myself and Ben used Diplocor engine enamel DE1615 as the Simoniz stuff just didn't look right. My mate Graham Curtis used Halfords aluminium engine enamel which is a lot cheaper and more readily available. Lower crankcase is bare alloy. Barrels and head are bare alloy too. I need to check on top cam cover but clutch , generator housing and sprocket cover are silver enamel too. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ash, that helps a lot. I can't find any Duplicolor DE1615 available in UK Ash - do you have a source?

Bit hard to get in UK . I got mine via Radwell but it worked out at £25 / can.

philward:
Thanks Ash - probably give Halfords a try
