This is not one bit helpful to Roo in anyway but I have to go with the Digestive biscuit. But has to be McVities! Goes nicely with a good mug of tea.

How about this Roo?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1715942488

Correct type? it's a rear head gasket off a 2002 VFR800, looks odd so probably a VTE version.

There’s a lot of variations Bryan and about 11 listed!!!
That be looks the right one Ken but I need to cross ref the numbers…..

The head came today and apart from being a bit mucky and a spot of crap paint from corrosion, I’m pretty chuffed with that!

£40well spent

Cleaning will commence at the weekend

Got on it today and after re jigging the workshop to erect scaffolding to hang the bike off and create room for all the stuff coming off the frame, I set about stripping Rosey to drop the motor.

So far so good but after 170+miles, the filth on the engine is awful………my OCD alarms are already going off and it’s not even out yet.

No broken fasteners but a few knackered ones that will need to be replaced but
So far, so good.

Front pipes, foot rest hangers, swing arm and shock off and it should be ready to drop out………or fall out, one of the two.

Looks very complex and tight. Much as I loved my viffer don’t think I’ll be rushing to scratch my knuckles and restore one of them. Good luck sorting - so many around making that head  a bargain, nice lateral thinking over a repair.

What's the plan Roo just fit the newly acquired c/head or will you be tempted at 170k miles to do other stuff when the engine is out?
Honda CB400NA Superdream (current money puddle)
Honda CB500 K1 (second money pit)

This is a neat 500 restoration in the USA.
