It is possible I misplaced a part but should there be a thrust washer or shim between the clutch outer basket and the gearbox bearing ?

Is there a previous post covering the correct assembly order  of the clutch operating mechanism thus working out what size shim is needed. I have done some trawling with no joy - lots of posts on various issues but no definitive advice found on best practice.

Thanks in advance.

Dont think there is a washer behind the clutch basket but check in parts book Ted.
The adjustment shims go under the circlip holding the hub on from memory but again check parts and Honda manual for position and free play required

I've checked the parts book - it does not show one - I did wonder if it was shown in a different section somewhere. I'll disregard my Haynes manual.

That's the trouble with multi model manual - my 400 definitely had one.

I usually try fitting the shims until the circlip won't go on and then remove them one at a time until it does. Works for me.
