Regarding the Bonhams Auctions Roy......I'd be more concerned at their Fees......What bike from your lovely stable are you thinking of selling - as you might get a fair offer from a forum Member.....by the time Buyers and Sellers Fees have been factored in, you might not be any worse off selling privately.

If it did indeed have an extra set of NOS pipes then that would have contributed around £2.5k to the action price IMHO.

I wouldn't go that far. It looks standard, only a real expert would spot the differences. Doesn't make it a bad bike.
Personally I think the repro pipes for the 500 are superior to the genuine Honda ones. Chrome is better, they are chromed front and back not just front like the originals. Fitment might not be as good but only an expert would spot the difference. I'm betting the quality of metal is better as well
No, they were sort of painted a dull grey Ash, I remember using paint stripper back in the 80s to remove it so I could repaint it. The rear of the exhaust rusted quite badly compared to the front.
