Might be tank sealers have improved over the years but I'm not a fan. When I tried it on my XJ900 it still leaked - ended up buying a new tank.

I used deox-c in my tank for 24 hours and it came up really clean. 👍
What size did you need to use?

Citric acid is the main ingredient in Deox-c. We've used citric acid dissolved in boiling water on a few occasions, with excellent results on fairly rusty tanks. It's very cheap to buy on ebay.

Exactly. If I remember right it can make up a 20 litre solution. I didn't have a big enough container to do it in one go, so dissolved half the tub in a large clean bucket, poured it in the tank, then did the second half. Fill the tank to the brim, close the cap and leave it. Just agitate/rock the tank every now and again.
It's worth getting a large container to keep the solution in when you're finished, it can be used again several times.

Make it up as hot as possible. I used it as part three of my cleaning. Insulated the tank to keep it as hot as possible and it was all over in 5hrs.
