On my 500 when I removed the rear lever with the tumbler type wheel (not the one at the front) I found the pivot was partly broken so fitted a new one. That said my gearshift was just a tad clunky.
Mild surface rust where it appears the bike has stood.

Only thing that stands out a bit for me though it might be normal is the poor visual match of the casings at the gearshft bearing.

Picture of linkage can anyone see any problems

I can't be sure from the photo, but is the spacer missing from the selector drum stopper arm, because the spring looks coil bound and over tightened?

Good luck with your fault finding

Hi Martin
Well spotted will have to check may be flash giving a shadow look at some other pictures can’t see it but  I will have to check
Thanks for your reply how’s your engine going
Paul
Paul, all back together, thanks. I'll spruce up the frame, while the engine's out. So, a bit of work to do, before my handiwork gets tested!

I have looked at the outer basket and it had a bit of pitting where the friction plates run I run a fine file over them also I noticed that the new friction plates had sharp edge so I filed them off have to see if that helps
