Will a CB500 BUMPER, REAR fit a CB550F2?

I forward a question asked in the German forum: Will a CB500 BUMPER, REAR (PN: 84101-323-671) also fit a CB550F2?

It will fit but the light bracket holes may be different, especially in different coutries.
Have said that 500 rear mudguards are worth a fortune

The 550K3 will also fit except the 550K3 rear guard has the top bolts embedded into the guard unlike the 500/550F ones which had the bolts passing through the frame crossmember. The 550K3 had studs on that did the same thing except you just used 2 nuts instead of 2 bolts. There are 3 hole and 4 hole versions of both, as Bryan says it depends on what he has already, if he has the other type he'd need to change the rear light bracket at the same time.

If what you are talking about is the grab rail and not the mudguard the UK 500 never had one and the US ones have different sized blinker mounts,rubbers and sleeves. Also seat lengths are different so that may foul as well

I've made it a habit to use 'Hondaspeak' whenever I talk OEM parts to avoid any misunderstanding. (I wish more would have that habit). That's why I said BUMPER, REAR which is how that part is exactly described in the CB500 Parts Lists. Yes, it's a grabrail. The grabrail UK CB500s never had. You overthere had the poorman's edition  . But now that all models surface anywhere, I thought it safe to also ask here.

A bumper over here is a mudguard not a grab rail. Why Honda would call that a bumper is beyond me, it's not protecting anything really.

The grab rail off a 500 may fit but the 550F has a slightly longer seat so even if it did fit, the passenger may not be able to get their fingers around it. The 550F grabrail fits the 500 quite nicely.

As Bryan says though, it's really difficult to find the indicator mounts to fit the 550F grabrail.

Not quite true as the genuine UK versions of most Honda models particular the CB500K0, CB750K0 and CB250K0 now command a much higher price than those imported from any other country. (OK they all came from Japan anyway  ) So we may have had in your opinion the 'poor man's version' when they were new but not now. Anyway, a lot of the UK differences were for practicality in our climate rather than cost cutting. Like the deeply valanced mudguards (sorry fenders ) on some models like the CB250/350K series.

Interestingly, Honda did use the word 'mudguard' on some models but for the 'fender' but the little rubber flap attached to the rear mudguard.

@ Oddjob Ofcourse I realise the terms in the Parts List are sometimes odd, but - once again - to avoid any misunderstanding, I always represent the original term, often accompanied by the PN and to make it even clearer it's Hondaspeak, I always write them in CAPITALS font size 8pt.

Nothing to do with that whatsoever...in fact pre all of the #@%$ and energy crisis, Covid, wars etc troubles. the UK bikes were at more of a premium than they are now. Trigger and Woodside on here both sold CB500K0 UK bikes for £10k  .. never seen a 500/4 from other markets achieve anything near that.

You - must - be - jo - king... with that... that... thing?! A grip you can buy in just any hardware store. And there aren't even two of them, to offer at least some symmetry. Compare that to the endless, elegant, grab rail on the international deluxe version of the CB500. Look how nicely it follows and accentuates the line of the seat. It's... royal... sexy too; your hand can glide over it, fiddle it all over. Female passengers with inquisitive fingers like that, you know.
Practical too. I've seen this wonderful rail accomodate not to big leather bags... on both sides, mind you, where as that... that thing... words fail me... the horror, the horror!!

Each to his own Delta, personaly i think the grab bar is an abomination purely for pillion passengers to hold onto and i dont do those

It's not as nice as the 550F one, far too low as well, passengers would have their fingers up against the mudguard. The 550F one fits the 500 great, perfect in fact, plus it holds the indicators as well making them easier to see.

No, no, on the contrary, both seat and grabrail are in my - as always - humble opinion the most elegant of the CB500/550 series. The CB550F one is far to 'hooked upwards'. The 84101-323-671 grabrail is more or less a continuation of that swift striping only the K2 tanks have, where as the paint scheme of previous models... but maybe I'd better be silent... All I can say, is that the old paint scheme is as blunt as that hardware shop grip.
