Neutral switch disassembly

(1/2) > >>

Jan B:
Does anyone have experience with disassembling a neutral switch? I would like to zinc plate the steel parts. The non-conducting middle part seems to be locked in place with some kind of laquer.

Jan B:
I decided to give it a try myself. I applied some heat from a heatgun untill the "laquer"started to bubble. With special tool I made with a 3D-printer I was able to unscrew the non-conducting part.

Happy with the result. Now i have to do some research as to find a suitable locking agent. Maybe a medium treadlocker...

That's a lot of attention to detail for such a small part.
It will be interesting to see the parts you are plating when they are done.

Nice one

Great work Jan ... that should be in 'Anoraks Corner' so it can be easily found and referenced in the future.

If it was a good working unit, I would be inclined to seal up the ball end in some way, then bead blast clean and zinc plate at home. I don't think a commercial plater would entertain plating it that way though. So you would have to do as you have done and break down to the component parts.
