Import 78 carb parts
« on: August 31, 2010, 01:05:51 PM »
As the title says, Ive bought some later type carbs and the bike feels weak at part throttle,
so Ive been trying to source some larger pilot jets.
it turns out they are push ins.
allens don't stock them and David silvers say they cant find anything either, can anyone help?
the bike is currently fitted with #42 and i would like to try #45/#48. are there drills that small?
any help much appreciated.
Ta FLC.

If you search the US site i remember somebody found an aftermarket supplier but cant remember if different sizes were available. May have sirius(Cirius?) in canada brain has lost too many cells to be sure.

Just had a bit of spare time try:-

http://www.siriusconinc.com/pro-detail.php?pid=&product_id=1109

They do do other sizes as well

Been on to nrc they were very helpfull and sounded chuffed that they were recomended, the gaffer also told me to raise my float level and that would effetively? (spelling) do the same as one size bigger pilots. ive bit the bullet and ordered some 45's from canada! will post results as they come in. ta flc.

Well the slow jets turned up from canada a few weeks back but not had time to try them till this week and.....
A massive improvement on starting (now a one kick wonder hot or cold) but still hesitant at part throttle almost felt like it was missing????
pulling the choke out semt to cure most of it, so am back to the drawring board.
found this site this morning http://www.keihin-us.com/am/_media/pdf/slide_valve.pdf
lots of usefull clues,
ive just lifted the needles a notch and balanced the carbs again. and im just about to test ride it :) fingers crossed.
more news as its made..... flc
