Can you remove the idiot light plate?

I want to paint the housing, just wondering if anyone has removed one.

I assume it’s stuck down and maybe a bit of heat will enable me to remove it and then put it back after.

Yes, I stick mine on top of the radiator so it makes the glue gooey, it's like UHU, then slide a very thin blade under it and gradually peel off. Be careful to not bend the plate as it leaves a line in the metal.

I masked mine off then painted the housing.

It might not be concourse - taking my time with the masking tape was worthwhile I believe.
