« on: January 04, 2025, 03:36:13 PM »

They were lightly polished ( not to a mirror finish) and clearcoated from the factory.

Satin polish and clear lacquer. Oh, and best to use 2k lacquer that is UV stable.

I am just up the road from you and in the next few weeks will be rebuilding my rear wheel which will include refinishing the hub. If you find somewhere that will do the clearcoat in the area can you post their details please?

Thanks, Mike

By remanufactured do you mean a new steel brake drum fitted. If so can you say where it was done?

Sorry it was done by someone now retired.

Gonna try a place in chippenham who claim to do metal finishing. Will post results!

I've been chatting with a certain former member on here who has given me the details of a chap near Ammanford I seem to recall.  PM me if you'd like me to pass on his number.

Ok no clearcoat service. Anyone have any experience? I can always box this one up and send somewhere reliable.

Take it to R D Cox & Son just down the road from you in Reading.
Alan Millyard uses him for all his vapour blasting and engine painting. I used him for the first time last year for my 400/4 engine and hubs and his work was brilliant (or 'Just Perfect' as Alan would say).👍
