Removing/changing main jets on 78 CB550K3
« on: May 27, 2011, 10:04:04 PM »
I have a 1978 CB550K3 with Kehin PD46C carburettors, I need to change the main jets, but I cannot see how to change them.

When I remove the main jets they are attached (very well indeed) to the emulsion tubes, my Haynes manual carb diagram show that they are pressed together with an O ring, now this must be a bloody good fit as I cannot see a join.

Am I (well my manual) correct and that they need separating or am I missing something simple?

Thanks guys, had a look and found it easy to remove.

I just didn't want to go in all guns blazing and screw something up.

If your carbs are apart, I recommend you also take out the pilot jets as well for cleaning - especially if its been standing for a long time.
Thefine pilot jets ("slow jets") need to be clean to stand any chance of a smooth tick over, (in my experience).
& remember the pilot jets on the K3 are pressed in.

Thanks Andy, I took everything apart and cleaned the lot.  They run fine now and ticks over really well.
