Swing arm bearing refurbishment
« on: August 01, 2011, 08:44:09 AM »
My swingarm seems to be developing play and MOT is coming up.

Is it necessary to replace the swing arm pivot collar as well as the bushes?

Also, does anyone know of a cheaper supplier than David Silver because, using all the parts, it looks like the job is going to cost over a hundred pounds which seems a shocking and extraordinary sum to pay.

Normaly its the collar worn more than the bushes mate BUT if you are happy enough with the handling just grease it up well immediately before the test as if no play is apparent WHEN TESTING its not a fail!!

Good thought, I might try that, I haven't greased it for ages, could be the problem.

Wow, I hadn't realised it was as often as that, maybe it has worn out through lack of lubrication.  I had been greasing it about once a year when I should have been doing it about three.  oops!

...which reminds me, I haven't changed engine oil for quite a while either..
