over priced 500 on ebay
« on: February 12, 2012, 05:26:46 PM »
Anyone seen the 500/4 on ebay, a seized up wreck with bits missing US import, now at £770 with 4 hours to go. Prices seem to vary a lot, only a few months ago i bought my 500 UK bike, taxed and tested on ebay and i only paid £890 ( although i would have paid more) I was thinking of bidding, but too expensive now!
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration

Yes unbelievable.

I think the romantic idea -"I could resurrect that pile of rust", overides common sense in  these cases. They ain't that rare yet - £1500 for a tidy example?
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

I've a couple of such wrecks off ebay over the years at £100 or so for parts / eventual rebuild. I was thinking of bidding as it's the same coulor a my 500/4 sidecar bike but that is getting bids for about 4 times what it's worth in my oppinion. Especially as I just got a '78 z650 that needs minimal work for half the money.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock
