steering yoke for K1 500/4
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:21:17 PM »
Thought i ought to introduce myself as i have been a member since June 2009! Firstly, great site that has been invaluable as a source of information for both my K2 750/4 (1973) and K1 500/4 (1972) rebuilds. I completed the rebuild of the K2, which i have owned since 1977, last year. Previous to this i have only ever restored British bikes but, i was so impressed by the quality of Honda engineering that i bought the 500/4 soon after. Having always loved the look of the 500/4 i started the restoration of one i found on e-bay and am nearing completion now, but i am short of a top steering yoke. I am fairly sure i need the one that lays the tacho and speedo almost flat but if anyone could advise me differently i would appreciate it. Also, i have bodged a K2 right hand switch unit to fit but if anyone has a spare one (i know they are very rare) i would gladly pay your price for it.

All the top yokes are the same, even the US 550 K1 & 2, its the clock mounting bracket that varies and ALL UK500's were officially K1's

I have been rummaging around in the barn this morning and found these.

The top yoke is different from the one on my 500/4 (?) and the clock mounting doesn't fit this yoke (the dimensions are different. Still, if anyone can shed any light or would like more detailed photos or measurements let me know.

There are no part numbers on any of the parts...

Steve pics of top yoke look like the one i have, i think they fit later 550 f and k3 as the speedo mount bolts on from underneath.the mounting bracket shown looks like earlier type as on my 500.

I recently bought some more bits for an early 500/4 (it has mounting bolts for front number plate, so must be K1).  I have a top yoke if you need it.
