Stiff Throttle
« on: October 01, 2012, 03:43:40 PM »
Hi All,
The throttle on my 400/4 is really stiff. Just wondered if this was a known issue as they get older.
The twistgrip itself is not the issue, it's a new one, and the cable has a non-restricted route. It seems to be the spring on the top of the carb's, can these be lubed, or changed if necc'?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Ian

If the cable has been "oiled" that could be your problem as Honda cables are lined and they swell and stick with lube

Hi uys
Thanks for that.
The cable has not been oiled, it is as is when it was new (if that makes sense).

Sorry about the last response(between old gits) as for stiff throttle disconnect the spring is all easy to operate?
If so you know what your problem is.If still stiff its the linkage corroded.
Cheers

Thanks for the replies, made me chuckle.
I'll have a rummage round with the spring assembly over the weekend to see how if there is anything that can be done.
Ta again

At this age you'll find most things become stiff. :)
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Set/sit. Bought/brought FFS. Bloody Americans.
