Wanted pair of fork stanchions for 78 F2

If anyone has a decent pair (not pitted) fork stanchions that will fit a 78 F2 and they are willing to sell, could you please let me know?.

Between me and you there are things which are getting tight.I have noticed recently after a post or two alot off members are feathering there nests for when they are really old gits and bits become a lot of money not knocking that.As it it is my view is one is better than none.

Maybe getting my pitted forks re-chromed properly is the way to go, a bit more than I wanted to spend but perhaps there's no other choice, is £160 a reasonable price to pay?. I've found the Classic Bike article and its a great read for explaining the process!.

As for the old gits!, maybe I should be tucking early cb900's away ready for when I qualify as an old git! Any opinions on the next classics?

Compare £160 with the price of new tubes. I don't have experience of this, but from what I have seen of the process I think you will end up with tubes that are better and harder wearing than originals. ( Just my opinion, I have no connection with said firm ) In fact I have the original rusty ones I took off my F1 and am seriously considering having them done as spares.

As for the next classics, knowing me it will be whatever I sold 5 years ago    Seriously I am not too sure as I don't know much about bikes after the 70's The CB900 was a handsome beast in my eyes ( except for the wheels! ) but did it quite have the same impact as the sohcs? I reckon though that pretty obviously most people hanker after the bikes they had as teenagers so they will all have their moments back in the limelight if spares are available.

A mate has had two sets of stanchions replatyed by Philpotts and he was well pleased with the job. They have been at it for years and have a good reputation. As said above, the result is better than the original.

We also sent a full set of brake pistons which they might be able to sort too. Will let you know the outcome once we get them back.

Had the front fork stansions for the VF500 done at pittedforks ( Philpots) for £140. Excellent job and as far as I know, the hardchrome is a lot thicker than the original.

Fork legs from a CBX1000ZA or CB900FZ also fit the CB750F2, as do the rear shocks from those models.

Philpots did the forks on my F2 years ago, very good job and still good after a few years living in a damp shed.
