Blocked injectors
« on: October 01, 2012, 12:03:02 AM »
Hi all my Triumph speed four has been stood for some time and now it has started missing at low revs.It won't pull below 3,000 RPM .
Iv'e changed the plugs as they were quite bad and no change so I assume the injectors are blocked.
Can you use an ultrasonic cleaner to clear them or are they fecked
Cheers
Mick

If you're sure it's the injecters , they can be ultra sonically cleaned . I race a Nitrous Hayabusa and have had a couple of different sets of injecters cleaned and flow tested by Extreme Engines in Lincs . Tel 01778440542. It's not cheap , but they measure the individual injecters flow rate and performance before and after cleaning and provide you with a print out .

What do you mean by "some time"?

If its more than a few months, I'd dump the fuel and fill with fresh and a quick dose of Halford's best injector cleaner.

If the injectors are blocked, why would it only run rough at low revs?

Also, have you checked the battery? Sounds counter-intuitive I know, but my Sprint would never run at low revs and I discovered that the battery was f****ed  and a new one cured it completely!

By some time I mean at least 6 months and very little use in the last 3 to 4 years. :( I might try the battery out of another bike.
I'm sure its the injectors as everything else seams fine.My brothers toyota run exactly the same and that turned out to be injectors.
I've never been happy with the triumph so I might just out it if I cant get it to run right.
