F1 or F2 or what?
« on: March 05, 2006, 07:54:06 PM »
Hi,

I have just put my CB750 SOHC on ebay as i am not getting the time to enjoy it and need space. It is a late 1975 model and i always believed it to be an F2 as it has mag wheels, twin disks on the front and a disk on the back. It also has a black engine. It has lots of mods though and is prtetty non standard. It is also quick.

Some smart** has emailed me to say that it is a K7 and not an F2 which would have had DOHC. It is definately not a K7, but i suppose it might be an F1 or some sort of hybrid. I don't want to mislead anyone and am a bit concerned that i should get the description right.

Can anyone help me sort this out, please.

Take a look at it at

Frame No CB750F-1021505
Engine No CB750E-2562575

Thanks,

Guy.

Looks a bit of all sorts. the brakes look F2, the exhaust hanger on the right hand side is F1 so I would assume that the frame is F1 also, the rear brake resovoure is F2, The twin disc arrangement on the front is most likley and F2 front end.

I've no idea what the swing arm is, it's a box section one, so not F1 or F2. don't recognise the wheels either.

The engine is black, the F1 engine was unpainted. with it being black this does not mean it is F2, it could have been painted later.

Cars are those like on the F2.

As Egil says, your frame is a '75 (F1) with a '76 (F1) engine. It is normal to have a difference in the numbers as (I believe) they were made in different factories.

The '77 (F2) frames started at 21xxxxx and the engines started at 26xxxxx

The F2 hade diffrent front fork and the calipers on the rearkside of the fork, the 75>76 hade calipers on the front side of the  of fork .                                                                              On the after marked all exhaust 4in1 are all on the rightside
The F1 have singel disk in rear and singel in front.
Options for the F1 was  on laced spoke on steel rims and  dual  300mm disk.
The F2 have  comstar wheels and dual  280mm disk as standar.
I think that the frame and engien  are from the same year a late 75 F1

Bute I`m no expert!

Thanks for all that info. I have decided that the bike is an F 1.5!! - it certainly has characteristics of both F1 and F2. It is so non standard that perhaps it doesn't matter, it is of little interest to someone looking for something original anyway. I have changed my ebay description so i don't mislead anyone.

I will miss it. Great bikes 750fours - i loved mine.

Cheers
Guy
