Carb question

(1/3) > >>

Boggieman:
Hi Guys
I am thinking of fitting some pod style air filters to my 400/4 race bike. Does anyone happen to know the outside diameter of the intake mouths to the carb's?
I can always take my airbox off the bike but thought I would ask on here first.
Thanks in advance
Ian

Dan:
I've seen pod filters advertised specifically for the 400, they were 35mm. You can get short filters that won't rub on the frame.

Alternatively, what I have done is remove the paper element from a standard air filter and replace it with foam from Ramair. It cost a fiver and there is enough foam to do 2 filters this way. You get to retain the air box this way which may be important to some.

Piki:
Hello, I have the carbs off the frame, this afternoon I will measure the diameter and let you know.
Where I can get RAMAIR foam??
Thank you.

Boggieman:
Thanks for the replies gents.
Piki, If you do a google search for Ramair Filters, they should come up.

You need to scrape out the glue that secures the paper element to the metal frame of the filter.  When the foam is cut to size it stays in place, held by the lip of the edge of the frame.

I did this, and went up a jet size, to suit the Marving exhaust on my bike.
