F2 enginenumber
« on: May 20, 2006, 07:10:02 PM »
Hallo there,

I have a CB 750F2 and recently i bought also a F1.

Then i found a other F1 with F2 engine to brake in pieces to have some spare-parts fot both machines.

And no something strange.
By the original F1 is the engine number on the normal place(90 degrees of the driving direction just behind the startmotor)

By the F1 with the F2 engine the same( number starts with B750GE....( ther is no C as first)

By my F2 is the number also B750GE, but no the strange thing, here is the number placed in the driving direction just on right site of the startmotor.

Has anyone  seen this before??

Greeting,s from the Netherlands.

Paul

Hi Paul,

I've have 3 engines, one I know is an F2, another is an F1 and the third is unknown, but they all have the engine number in the same place. left hand side behind the starter motor

I know that if the crankcases have been replaced at any time (due todamage usually caused by broken drive chain), the normal engine number space is blank.

Can you post a picture of the F2 engine number and location?

It was not easy to make a picture with a black engine and just try to give a vieuw from the middle of the crankcase.

Well, I've never seen a engine number there, any idea what year the engine is,.

I had not noticed that the '76 engine number starts 'CB' and the '78 engine number starts 'B' SO when did this change, or did honda run out of C's
