Tracing a Bike
« on: November 06, 2013, 05:55:37 PM »
Hi  I'm trying to find a 1972 CB 175 it's gold, I bought new.
The bike is currently mot'd until May next year so is out there somewhere
Reg number is DKL54K
I tried sending form v888 to DVLA but they won't tell me.
I'm in Kent ,any one who may see it or can give me any idea on tracking it down
greatly appreciated. :-[

Wish you the best of luck as in those days the middle letter K meant Kent.I have been on the lookout for GKN 115N with no luck.I find it hard to believe these people are not members of this dedicated site.I know it took me a little time to find this site and boy am I glad I did what a good bunch of people on here.My old girl is still taxed a different colour albeit still there must have serviced it good.I would buy it of them in a shot but no luck. All the best.

I owned it for a year and sold it to my twin brother,he sold it to a friend
who ran into something and bent the forks so i thought it would have gone to the great breakers in the sky.
I bought it from Chambers of Rochester.
Is yours a 750 you are looking for.?

I too had a CB175 gold bought from Chisholm brothers at Maidstone.Yes my bike was a CB750k2 gold.At Chisholm brothers I was a mechanic but I also remember Chambers at Rochester as well as Rainham.Bloody good days they were but are well gone now.I also worked at Redhill motors at Maidstone and do you know what I could relive them days all over again.Fantastic days all gone now.Ar ah well like all things, now memories.
Good luck

I bought a 500/4 from Greys of Chatham  in 1974 and went to Chisolmes to buy some
new plug caps and do away with the metal shrouds they came with,it was snowing when i collected it,
still probably the best bike i owned.
Yes as you say 'good old days' sadly gone only stress was polishing the bike at weekends.
I lived in Gillingham and  a friend lived 3 houses away and had a 750,Red had it stolen and insurance paid out and he
bought a gold one. The Red one turned up in a garden some months later in a garden next door to Rainham Police station  :)
I'd like to relive it by getting the 175 back, sad i know.

What a small world I too lived in Gillingham and also worked albeit for Greys for a very short time bunch of monkeys they were.Do you remember Baldwins at Rochester?Worked there too nice people to work for again shame they closed down.I could go on about the old days for ever.Like I said to my olde lady the other day I reckon I have lived the best years. You could walk out of one job and straight into another etc.Did you hang out at the prince of wales pub Strood?
Anyway best of luck with your search.
Cheers
