In trouble

Hi everyone

Well have just started checking my 1975 750K2 over for the spring and shocked to find the top steering yoke has a crack in it near the fork mounting bolt. This may have happened when my mate tailed ended me in the summer time. Have looked on ebay but nothing. Anyone have a spare one kicking about. I know some people are a little weary about sending parts to strangers but you wont have any problems as I will pay before delivery

Havent got one but usualy happens in the little "D" washer is missed out of the gap where the pinch bolt goes

if it is the rhino horn one on yours I think D Silvers sells them new reproduction ones now, secondhand or new they are not cheap

Can it we welded or built up with weld?

I've a spare F2 top yoke, but, one of the clock mounting lugs is broken off, I'd feel safer with a welded clock lug, than stanchion clamp. I can weld it up if it will do the job for you?

i have a spare top and bottom yoke set you are welcome to try and see if its any good

Checked my K3 - both D washers missing. I've slackened the bolts, fortunately no cracks in my case.
Do you happen to know how thick the washer is? The gap with the bolt slackened is 2.5mm. I'll fit something until I'm next ordering parts. My those washers are expensive though, £5.94 each!

Cheaper than a rhino top yoke I think.Your choice you are messing with a bike thats worth a small fortune and you can not afford a tenner!!!!!!

I have checked to see if the D washers are fitted and yes there in place. This bike was restored by me 14 years ago and have only just noticed this crack. It looks fresh.

Got to either be age or been wolloped.I have heard off people getting them welded but not tried it as yet.

I've had these repaired before, make sure all paint removed from area, file small v-form at the surface all round, tack it held on a fork leg to get the bore aligned, complete weld to fill in all of the v, don't what ever you do quench it at any point it needs a slow cool down.

These joints are torque critical, in that the bolt can easily apply more force than the casting can stand. The rated torque is just to get sufficient pinch on the stanchion and no more.

It seems not all models use these washers. K6 does not.
