Rockercover removal
« on: February 18, 2014, 07:34:00 PM »
Hi All
If i remove the breather cover is there enough room to get the
rocker cover off without taking the engine out of the frame?
Cheers Richard

On a second thought the only thing I detest on the 750 is you can not do F A without taking at my age the the bloody thing out to do anything above the cylinders. In my op ion the only sh it design from a very clever Japanese man.

Rgp,
Yeah your right.13 years Too long in France lovely country but still in the 50s.Great biking place mega bucks now for anything. As for biking NO MOT,S so colours, mph, kmp who cares?
Cops pull you over most times to look at your bike anything wrong you pay, no problems with that.So whether your headlight is left or right they dont know as long as it works.
Cheers

too much traffic in North Kent now so moved south of Ashford just not so much around the lanes.
Just too many potholes. My 1927 Matchless is rigid frame and seeing it can do 70 hit a big one
and you are mincemeat.
Still no joy finding my CB175, sent a begging letter to dvla last week with an sae to send on
to current owner but won't hold my breath.
Any tips on easier engine removal.
cheersRichard

Richard
No worries they come out quite easy if you have the muscles.Remove the filter cover and the 2 of you get over the top you lift the front up a bit slide the back out of the bkts and lift out the right side of the frame.Easy if the the pair off you have done it before. If you are doing a full strip take all and sunder off makes it lighter alternator etc.It goes back just the same way but wrap cloth around the down tubes protects the paintwork.Back in the 70s could do it on my own but no way today old git.I love em and would do more off them if I could find them at the right price.By the way I had Gold CB175 twin carb lovely bike but do not know the reg number but pxd at Grays of chatham for a CB250k4.
Wish you the best

Hi Richard,

Engine out... try this, works for the CB750 too. I did this last year with my 400F - a breeze, and (in this case) a single man job as the frame relatively light. Putting the engine back into a newly powder coated frame I used the same technique... fantastic as a 'very controlled' affair due I was able to precisely & gently manoeuvre the frame back over the engine, bolt it in, and then lift upright.

DVLA - ' Where's my old bike' - just been down this route with them & no luck. If you fare differently then please tell me your method!

...look in Forum / Where's my old bike / The Computer says NO... or go here...

Cheers,
Simon.

PS - if you do succeed with the DVLA can you post it under a relevant thread as I've no hope of remembering to look under 'Rocker Cover'! .... or message me. Thks.
