Curious ht leads

Having bought 750 back in September from guy, even older than me, giving up bikes. He gave me a receipt for full service ,mot ,collection and delivery service. so not ridden at all.
I have done about 100 miles only on it before the rains came. Tried to get it going weekend and it ran poorly checked carbs,full of muck (despite service receipt saying carbs stripped,I think the old boy was stitched up) anyway i digress.
I checked the HT leads last night and 2 and3 were the wrong way around how could it run?

It ran because they both spark together,They call it a wasted spark system.Same with 1 and 4.
