Anyone needing any of these parts? for 550F and 500
« on: June 10, 2014, 04:59:37 PM »
Could put this is the for sale section but TBH I've only just managed to find these from an obscure source and TBH even though they say they have them I won't find out for certain until tomorrow.

Just a few parts I chose as being a bit hard to obtain or much cheaper than DS or CMS are selling them.

CB550F rear brake arms, NOS but until I hold one in my hand I can't say exactly what condition the chrome is in, might have 3 of those but depends on whether they are still sat in whatever box they were buried in. Price will be around £55 inc P&P I think. CMS still have 4 left at around £100 each plus P&P, hence why I selected them. Part number is 46500-390-000

CB750, CB500, CB550 to name a few. The small black washers which sit in the gap on the top yoke clamp bolts, they were fitted to stop you over tightening the pinch bolt and breaking the top yoke, still available at around £6 plus P&P from DS and CMS. Managed to maybe find 10 of them at £3 each. Part number is 53235-300-000 (all sold)

CB750K0, CB450, CB500 rear indicator brackets. NOS. Got 8 of these available, confirmed. DS and CMS charging an arm and a leg at around £25 each plus P&P. £15 each my price. Postage cheaper if you buy a pair but around £3 P&P I reckon. (6 left)

Big end shell bearing for CB500/550. Green colour, getting very hard to find in green hence why I snapped them up. Might have 12, not confirmed. DS charging around £11 each plus P&P. £8 each inc P&P Part number 13217-323-003 (all sold)

Just went for this just for fun as I've never seen one before, CB550F L/H side panel in Flake Sunrise Orange, NOS so should still be wrapped in OE bag, not expected much demand for this TBH as I think it was mainly a US colour but you never know and I bought it mainly for a laugh. No price for this as I don't even know if they still have it, if they do and your interested let me know. Part number 83700-390-000ZB

Yeah might do that if I get little interest here. The 550F side panel would also go well on there I reckon.

Just to clarify, the small D washers were not fitted to those models where the clamp bolt went from a 8mm bolt with 12mm head to the smaller 7mm bolt with 10mm head. Just so you don't think your bike is missing these.

Assuming he still has the 10 he said he thought he had that makes 6 of them promised to members. I've just remembered as well I have some genuine Honda petrol tap fibre washers I got from a member in the US, can't remember offhand how many I have but I think 12 of them. Will dig them out and get the part number and quantity.

Just spoke to my source today, he has all the parts I have listed so anyone wanting stuff please let me know before I offer it to our US cousins.

550F brake pedals are supposedly still wrapped and in bags so chrome should be good, I'll check them when they arrive.

6 of the D washers are spoken for.
2 of the 500 indicator brackets are sold.
8 of the 500 shell bearings are spoken for.

The rest is still available, maybe the mods should move this to sales?

I did manage to source what I consider to be some rare parts, nothing spectacular but it's one of those finishing touches that really makes a difference for your restoration. It's the small black plastic caps which attach to the kickstart shaft and covers the moving parts from swarf etc getting in, part number is 28305-310-000 and it may fit more than the 500. Virtually every 500 restoration I've seen has this part missing with a hole in the bottom of the kickstart showing all the knuckle arrangement of the shaft. I have managed to find a handful, his list he provided says 3 but he's said he's putting 5 in the box so maybe 5 or maybe the extra 2 are something else. I'll know when I get them. Looking at my parts books the 550F doesn't use the cap but the 550K3 does. Just found a pic where you can see where the part goes, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1974-Honda-CB550-Four-Mint-Condition-40-year-old-Show-Winning-Classic-Bike-/251532075771?nma=true&si=MTeRq5MbXrbUXzLj49c9YolV8Pg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 pic 6 shows the kickstart and even on such a good example as that bike is (and the stupid price it went for) the kickstart is missing the black cap and the mechanism is exposed to the elements.

He offered to sell me all his old stock but he has over 2 containers worth and TBH I can't justify that sort of expense, it's an old Honda dealer who no longer deals with Honda. Nothing really fantastic in there, no seats, tanks, frames etc that I can see but an awful lot of small stuff for virtually every Honda from late 60s to early 90s.
If your after a small part for your bike PM me the part number and I'll trawl through his list and see if he has it. His prices are very reasonable as well, about half of what DS charges generally. He does have quite a few CB750 stuff but nothing there that jumps out at me as being ultra rare.

I know they ain't exactly huge things but hey they finish off the kickstart a treat and make it look the part. It's little things like this that make the difference to a restoration I think.

Cap is just £2 each, Mick, Ewan and Trig have first call on the first 3, if there are any more than 3 in the parcel when it arrives I'll let you know. Please feel free to ask for one and I'll take the requests in the order they arrive in.

Thanks for the pic Mike, first one I've seen for a while, they get lost real easy, maybe a drop of superglue lads when you get them. (all now sold)

I have now recieved the package from my supplier.

Everything is there including 5 of the kickstart covers.

Most but not all of the parts are still in the original Honda bags, the caps are loose but that not exactly a problem.

The CB550F L/H side panel is VERY orange and extremely metallic, it's not in it's bag but it is still wrapped in the original tissue paper and has the part number label in the new bag. Paint is perfect, no scratches or chips or any imperfections I can see. I'll see about posting a pic just so people can see what Flake Sunrise Orange looks like when it's new and not faded by sunlight.

Ian DB, your next in line for a cap so you can certainly buy one if you want.
