I was building a set of K2 carbs up onto the new bracket Ash sent me, Thanks again Ash, when this smell 'appeared' and I was right back to 1977 cleaning some CB250 carbs up in my Dads garage!! It was just the smell of the old petrol stains in the Honda's carbs, but it took me right back, really strange feeling.

Anyways, its renewed my vigour to get the YOM Certificate sorted out with the people at Honda!!

Know what you mean Pete, when I first rode my F1 it has a very specific smell when hot ( not entirely down to the rider!  ;D ) no idea what it is, hot laquer or something? its not strong but it instantly took me back to the long hot summer of '76 thrashing around Cornwall on an F1 on me hols!

That reminds me, I must run this F1 down there and get a pic of it outside Driftys in St Agnes just to complete the circle so to speak!

I get that feeling every time I fire up my Yamaha RD250, the smell of a hot 2 stroke and blue smoke makes me a teenager again.

You just can't beat the smell of an old bike whenever I put mine away I pull the door down lock the door walk through the house straight out the back door and into the garage again and inhale.I have probably shortened my life considerably but I just can't help myself.

Anyone remember the smell from the old Dansette record players, a combination of the smell of the 'Rexine' covering on the plywood case , valves and the 'shaded-pole' turntable motor getting hot.

Cheers ... AshD
