lower engine case

has anyone got a lower engine case they can look at i need to know somethink where you put the oil seal for the gear lever shaft where the seal fits into. at the bottom of mine theres like a cut out bit not very big need to know if it show be there you car,nt see it when the seal is in i,ve never notice it before when doing my engine,s

looks like everyone is stump,d just wondering if it could be a oil way it looks like a hole if that helps if anyone could confirm if that a poss

Hi,
     I just assumed it was an oil drain back into the "sump", as the casting on the inboard of the seal a machined finish supporting the gear change shaft at very near shaft diameter

thanks it looks like a oil drain i must of court the seal when i was putting it in doh

That hole goes to the oil pump.
