Best to take them apart in a press. The damper rod will need hard chrome.

I am fairly certain that the damper rod will be fine, like i said the dampers look almost new, the only thing wrong with them visually is some very light pitting on the shrouds.

You have to pull the shroud down along with the spring then the retaining collet(s) will come out
