« on: June 30, 2014, 05:41:14 PM »
Hello,
Are the ignition key and the steering lock the same?
 (assuming that they are original)
Where can i buy or get a copy of one.

Thanks

I use this man in the link. He will cut a key for you from the key number. He is on his holidays until 5th July.>>>  http://stores.ebay.co.uk/MB-Lock-Tec?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

Yes, on an original bike the keys are the same... includng the helmet lock. The locking petrol filler will take 'any' key. Copies are fairly easy to come by...

Just beware that often copy keys will be a different shape to OEM Honda: in my case the copies wouldn't operate the steering lock as their shoulders stopped them pushing up the barrel to engage the lock. You'll notice I modified the top key (expand picture) modified with a hack saw & solder....

Cheers,
Simon

Bear in mind this all changed with the F1 which has one key for ignition/seat/and fuel cap and an entirely different one for the headstock

Does the ignition key comes off when you turn the ignition on.
This one does,  is it normal?

The ignition key should not come out once the ignition is on (only in the off and park) If the key comes out in the on position this means the ignition barrel is worn.

So..
I have 3 possible position for the key,  1, 2 and 3.
The key stays IN only at position 2.

position 1 and 3 key comes off.

Is this normal?

Thanks

if the ignition is on at Pos 2 ,and all off at pos 1,and park lights on pos 3, that is normal

Is this normal?

Position 1) is Off and the key should come out.
Position 2) is On and the key should not come out.
Position 3) is park which should leave your tail light and side light on. Key should come out.
