Methinks it might be to do with the fact that off-road tyres are typically spec'd @ 10-20psi.... which translates into overheat at road speeds...

But I'm probing the depths of my mind.... ie further than yesterday...

If you really want an off road type tyre what about the Metzeler Tourance I have them on my Pegaso loads of grip.I gave a 955i a good spanking around Spain a few years ago.

Quite like the tourance,  but they don't have the sizes required.
