To get a log book you need the reg number, frame numbe and engine number plus about £25 all as long as it once had a "computerised" V5.

If it was taked off road with an old green book and never computerised you will have to go down the proof of year of buid letter route along with MOT, Insurance and extra money for first reg but you would get an age related plate

Found the number plate, checked dvla. Tax expired november 89. First registred 07 April 1972. Colour black. So looks like it is on computer and just needs the £25 spending on registration.
Got a 500/4 with rust and a sidecar and loadsa bits. nice and original and been round the clock

More bits comming out of the woodwork for this, seem to have 2 sets of forks that are k0 style with rods being part of the top nut, even opened up some other 500 forks to check, they are definitely different and I have 2 sets, I can only think they came out of the boxes of spares that came with this bike. I am begining to think I should have taken better note of what was in those boxes of parts, it might be I can accound for another k0 in bits, shame there wasn't a spare frame in there. Tool tray and airbox also came to the surface. Very nearly the whole bike retrieved from the loft. So far looking good to throw back together with very little actual spending for a functional mot able machine. What luck I get inside the engine I shall wait and see.

If you take the engine apart you should find a oil guide missing with part number 23106-323-000. This was not fitted to the early engines, also the clutch push rod will be one unit.
