CB750K7 wobbly front end
« on: September 18, 2006, 01:05:47 PM »
Hi,
I took my newly retored K7 on the road the other day.

I am experiencing a lot of bouncing & juddering from the front end.

The Brakes & wheel bearings all seem OK.

The forks have just been refilled with the correct grade of oil. It sounds like worn dampers to me - any other ideas before I strip them down?

Ta

Hi Ray,
How is your front tyre, have you balanced the front wheel, is there any play in your steering head, are your front and back tyre pressures OK.
Is your rear wheel in alignment with your front ?
Is your front brake binding
Just a few ideas

Cheers

Hi Dennis,
Everything you have mentioned seems to be OK. I stripped the forks down yesterday and there is some leakage from one of the fork seals and a whole lot of sludge in the bottom of the legs.

I thing the damper sealing washers are a bit worn out, and I think that this was the main crux of the problem.

Some wear marks on the forks tubes was also noted, so its off to the hard chromers with 'em for a recon. - Unless anyone has a decent front end to sell.

Got to be better than being shaken to bits.

Cheers

Ray
