Reassembly of crank cases stalled as I found the drive sprocket shaft seal in kit I had did not fit later larger shaft on K8, so had to order one up from DSS.

It may be possible to fit seal after crank cases together but decided to wait

Crank cases now together, just waiting for rebored cylinders.

On my last install, I left fitting of starter motor, oil filter, oil pump, sump, alternator/ rotor and cover, clutch and selector parts until engine in and will probably do same again.

My rationale is it makes engine quite a bit lighter and easier to handle and as I have a bike lift it is not difficult to fit these after.

I hope my updates help inspire/motivate others, but it is difficult to keep motivated in the cold weather.

The K8 tank is finished but as it is over 100 miles away I wont be able to collect until week after next :'(

Started on the head.

Most of valves semi seized and had to be tapped out of head.

Cleaned up, I use a bench electric wire brush and finish with emery cloth with valve in pillar drill.

I will see if valves lap in OK

DSS is £35 for exhaust valve and £27.20 for inlet, CSMNL is E54 and E49 !

Found 1 exhaust on Ebay UK for £15 inc and 1 exhaust and 2 inlet from Ebay France for £45.

Current spend including purchase is £3500 and still need to sort seat and 1 exhaust!!

Stripped carbs yesterday and on reassembly found one of the float bowl screw thread in body was stripped  ::)

I have helicoils for M5 and M6, but not M4 :'(

For some reason the M4 kit is 3x the cost of M5 one  ???

Does anyone know what size tap is used for M4 helicoil or is it a special size/pitch?

Hi,
Helicoil taps are a specific size to suit the helicoil, and most helicoil sets include the appropriate tap and fitting tool for each size of coils in the set!---ken
nice bike,nothing in the bank
