750 K2 re-build (possibly)
« on: February 11, 2015, 05:28:28 PM »
Hi all,
New to the forum and need some opinions.
I've had several K2's over the years.
The one in question is a 1974 K2 750 which went off the road 30 years ago when the main bearings went.
I totally stripped it down to do the work but never got round to it.
Since then all the engine parts etc have been stored in boxes and unfortunately the frame ,wheels, forks have ended up outside for some years.
The question is (passion for the model apart);
In the poor shape it's in, is this project feasible and/or worth the time and money to restore? Or should I sell it as parts for others?
It's make my mind up time.
Cheers,
Sean.

All parts are available , and reasonably easy to get, the cb 750 is one of the easiest bikes to restore due to availability of parts both NOS second hand and aftermarket, if you go for it you will get plenty of advise from people on hear

Hi Sean
Welcome to the forum. I've just finished similar starting point K2 - see thread link - expensive if you want it original but the guys on here are really helpful and super knowledgeable. Big cost is chrome bits but that's the same for any 70's era bike.
Good luck whatever you decide.

Once you get the frame powder coated,  you'll feel a lot more positive about the whole project.  Trust me, I had a stolen/recovered bike in my mates shed for 19 years.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?
