Rocker arm shafts - ?
« on: February 18, 2015, 08:44:44 PM »
Pulled the rocker arm shafts so I could prep the cover for paint, and noticed that while every other tappet has its own shaft, 1 and 2 inlet shared a common one with a notch in the far end.

Normal or odd?

CB500 and CB550F1 have there own shaft. The K3 and F2 share a shaft. The long shaft for the K3 and F2 have the notch were 14456-390-000 goes in the notch to stop the shaft turning.

So its actually odd that the others are independent?

Can't remember how many rocker covers i see in your garage. Maybe you have the two different covers. They changed after number 1133172. I think the only difference was that you could lock the shafts that have the notch.

Only 2.  I can't manage to pull the shafts out of the other cover to compare, so will just reassemble as it was and go with it!
Any suggestions for a source for seals for the side covers, or is any one as good as the other?

Seal is a seal, as long as it fits and does the job. No such thing as a original anymore. Should be a couple of buck's.

If the others will not come out then maybe you still have 14456-390-000 still in place.
