hi

can anyone help me please ??

i have recently acquired a 1976 400/4 it has what i believe is called candy apple red tank with stripe wich i think came out in 1977. i want to make my bike as authentic as possible..the chassis number indicates blue..does anyone have a paint code please..?

was it just the tomato red colour and blue in 75 and 76 in uk ?

Also my bike has a non standard seat but has 440 four on it ..maybe European..think Italian..raised up at back..is this common ..? i have seen pictures of this seat..

Hi Sonya.

Looks like you bike has had a tank transplant from a later model.

I'm afraid that there are no paint codes as such for the old Hondas. You could look here: http://www.motorcycleproject.com/motorcycle/text/lubrtech.html

Repainting is expensive. Think

John - what's wrong with the second link on my post?  Somehow honda-sohc is on the front of it?

Steve

OK: forgot to put the http:// on the front.  Why does it need this?

Light ruby red [no code]
Varnish blue   [no code]

F2
Parakeet yellow  [Y-31]

Trouble is those Honda codes mean nothing to anybody except Honda
