Brake pads don't fit

Hi all

I am in the process of rebuilding the front braking system on a 550f
I have purchased everything new from David silvers but for some reason the pads appear to thick
I.e when I tighten up the two large calliper bolts then the pads lock tight on the disc so it won't turn
Anyone got any ideas of what I'm doing wrong.

Hi Stuart, I can't comment myself, but I've seen a few threads in the past that discussed fitment issues with the DSS pads - might be worth a search.  If nothing comes up, I'm sure the experts will chime in shortly.  Good luck!

Is the piston back all the way ?
Need more information on what has been replaced. The pivot arm has to be inline with the disc before you try to mount the caliper.

Sounds to me like the piston isn't all the way in and/or the pivot siezed

I've fitted a new calliper, new piston, new seal and new shoes so I know the piston is all the way back
I've also fitted it without the spring loaded adjuster bolt to ensure it isn't that. It really does appear that the pads are just to thick?

Trigger mentioned the pivot arm,is it inline with the disc before fitting the pads?

             I had exactly the same issues with the pads from DSS.
I ended up getting some 400 grit wet and dry placing it on a flat surface and keeping the pad square rubbing it up and down to take some of the material off the moving pad

fair do's to DSS,

  I fitted a couple of sets of his disc pads,and no probs,they fitted in the calipers perfectly,

 other I have used before required the paint to be filed off before they would fit,

I take it that it is a repro caliper.  As Paul said, he had trouble with the ones he bought from DSS so i would go that way. Never bought bake pads from DSS so, can't comment.

I got some rear shoes from DSS and they wouldn't fit in the drum so I had to rub some material away before they fitted properly so maybe the same problem here?

All the pads from dear spares I have bought never fit without doing something sorry
