Yes Ash, I well remember 'guvvy' jobs at Hawker Siddeley - in fact when I started my apprenticeship it was a while before I realised that they actually made aeroplanes, I just thought they made and refurbished car and motorcycle parts!
When I moved over to Lancashire, it was called 'doing a foreigner' - might get in deep trouble now with the PC brigade. Up here in Orkney (and probably most of Scotland) guvvy jobs are called 'Homers'
