sohc.co.uk 2007 - ?
« on: July 08, 2015, 08:36:26 PM »
As we approach the 8th anniversary of me taking over the management of this site from John Burrin (JonnyB), it's interesting to look at some of the stats...

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

On the 10th July 2007, there were 3 new topics and 8 posts.

Before that there was to "old" forum which I persuaded John to ditch for the SMF Forum (I had moderated www.sohc.net for a couple of years and helped Glenn with the admin so believed I could set up the UK site on the same platform).

I still hear from John - last was January of this year.

Post your best (or worst) bits of life on this forum :)

Ooh that's quite a hard one, although the one that REALLY sticks in my mind was when bikepusher got the hump bigtime with Bitsa (Nice one Ralph!;-) ) That still makes me chuckle everytime someone nentions bikepusher on here, usually a comment having a dig at him, and his prices! The banter on here and the genuine desire to help each other, all of which makes this such a great forum, and well done Steve for keeping it going!
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

He took one of your humorous quips as a personal insult, and threw all the toys out of his pram, gave us all a good laugh, and just proved that he only joined us to try and sell more of his overpriced stuff, without giving the forum anything for the free advertisisng.>:)

this is an interesting comment, humour is very difficult to portray in plain text, irony doesn't come through well,
and one wrong word or expression can mean it can be read two ways,

I use other forums ,and at time get "handbags at dawn slagging off messages"

but as we all try to be grown up,and share a common interest,we can understand jokes, and funny comments,

those that leave ,its their loss, this forum is enriched by the people in it,

One of the best things from this forum for me was the support I got earlier this year ,
I was having a struggle with several things  in life and lots of you picked up on it and sent me pm, 's and emails of support and help, I am not interested in my bikes anymore and am gradually selling them all off but I still look in to the forum every day cause I love the people who are my good cyber friend's

Thing is Pete, if you sell all your bikes, what's your rabbit going to do?

When I joined the forum back in 2007, there wasn't a lot going on so I didn't bother with it for a few years.   It's certainly picked up a lot and with the outing back in the summer.  I'm so glad I got back in touch.  I look forward to what 2016 brings.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?
