Carb float pins - stuck

Hi Chaps
I'm going to refurb a set of carbs for the 550 and 2 of the brass float pins are well and truly stuck. Before I resort to my preferred method of removal, the hammer and nail trick  , is there any other way they can be removed?. I think I was very lucky I didn't snap the posts when I did the 400/4 ones but, my luck may run out this time.

If you knock them out with a punch (nail) make sure you support the back post with something so it doesn't snap and spoil your day.  A block of hardwood preferably.

Lots of soaking in WD at intervals before the nail usualy works

Try drilling them out. Cut the pin either side of the float first
