Carb float pins - stuck
« on: July 15, 2015, 06:32:54 PM »
Hi Chaps
I'm going to refurb a set of carbs for the 550 and 2 of the brass float pins are well and truly stuck. Before I resort to my preferred method of removal, the hammer and nail trick  :o :o :o, is there any other way they can be removed?. I think I was very lucky I didn't snap the posts when I did the 400/4 ones but, my luck may run out this time.

Ta in advance

If you knock them out with a punch (nail) make sure you support the back post with something so it doesn't snap and spoil your day.  A block of hardwood preferably.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

Lots of soaking in WD at intervals before the nail usualy works

Try drilling them out. Cut the pin either side of the float first  ;)
