Starter clutch gear side float.

Hi all
I had to change my crank shaft and took off the rotor and starter clutch gear from the original
crank and the side float between the back of the rotor and the first bearing is about 2mm this seems a lot to me.
I put the rotor back on the old crank and it is the same the only thing i have noticed is it looks like the rotor has spun and messed up the taper sometime in it's previous life.
I will get another rotor but would like someone out there to confirm my findings one way or the other please.
So anyone have their crank out with the rotor still on that can check the side movement of the starter gear.
it's a k0 the rotor has the flange on it.

There was a bulletin about retaining bolts not being tight enough and rotors spinning on the crank, Use some fine grinding past and lap it onto the taper, just make sure you wash it all off.

I seem to remember that there is some float on the starter gear, the thing to watch out fot is that the starter part is screwed tightly to the rotor, usualy with threadlock

Pop the crank round and will have a look, have a crank and parts to try on your

Gather Rich has got a replacement rotor coming. The spare one I have doesn't have the flange on it like the K0. Anyone know if they are interchangeable?

Yes folks rotor is terminal so hopefully the replacement will be fine.
And the answer to my first question is yes the side float is normal.
